Congratulations! By visiting
this site you have already evinced a characteristic
of a true Freemason; the desire to seek knowledge.
While going through the site your Intelligent
Mind, Innocent about the concept of Freemasonry
will start Inquiring as to how can one become
a Freemason? What is Freemasonry and what does
it purport to teach?
Let us than first look at what Freemasonry is
and what it is not and than examine as to who
are considered proper & fit persons to be
admitted to it's privileges.
What is Freemasonry?
Freemasonry is a system of morality which through
its' practice, enables its' members to advance
themselves- Spiritually. Freemasonry is based
in a religious and moral context but it is not
a religious society. Freemasonry requires its'
members to believe firmly in GOD by what ever
name is HE referred to. The fundamental principles
of freemasonry are Brotherly Love, Relief and
Truth.
One approaches Freemasonry for the purpose of
helping others and while doing so, enjoys the
company of other men of high moral character
actuated by similar ideas.
Freemasonry is also an educational society in
that it teaches its' members the duty he owes
to GOD, to his neighbour, to his family, and
to himself. It inspires men with the feeling
of charity and goodwill towards all mankind.
It teaches truth and justice, fraternity and
philanthropy.
What Freemasonry is not
Freemasonry is not a religious society.
Freemasonry
has secrets but is not a secret society.
Freemasonry
is not a political society.
Freemasonry is not a
benefit society.
Freemasonry is not a social club.
Freemasonry is
not dogmatic and all religions are welcome and
are respected.
Who are fit and proper persons to be
made Freemasons
As already explained earlier,
to become a freemason one must have a firm belief
in GOD. Free and mature men (at least 21 years
of age), having a firm belief in GOD, desirous
of being of help to others, interested in self
improvement, having high morals and sound judgement
are fit and proper persons to be made Freemasons.
The admission however is not by direct application
but by recommendation. However the application
must be motivated by your own free will and accord;
not due to persuasion by any one else. Since Freemasonry
is a society that prizes honour and virtue above
all else, any new member is initiated only after
recommendation by a brother who is acquainted with
the candidate for some time. You have already by
now probably seen the photographs of our members.
May be you already know one of your acquaintances
to be a Freemason. Please approach them or you
may wish to approach the office bearers whose contact
details are provided in the section "About Us".
We shall be more than glad to welcome you into
this most honorable and ancient institution. |
